Barry Strauss is the author of the bestselling books, Ten Caesars: Roman Emperors from Augustus to Constantine (2019), The Death of Caesar: The Story of History’s Most Famous Assassination (2015), The Battle of Salamis: The Naval Encounter that Saved Greece – and Western Civilization (named a best book of 2004 by the Washington Post) and several other books. His books have been translated into 15 languages.
He is the host of the popular new podcast, “Antiquitas: Leaders and Legends of the Ancient World,” which is available through apple and other major platforms.
He teaches History and Classics at Cornell where he is also Director and co-founder of the Program on Freedom and Free Societies. He has received fellowships and residencies from the National Endowment for the Humanities, the German Academic Exchange Service, the Korea Foundation, the American Academy in Rome, and the MacDowell Colony, among others. He was a Visiting Scholar at the Hoover Institution. In recognition of his scholarship, he was named an Honorary Citizen of Salamis, Greece.
