Annie R. Antonites received her doctorate degree at Yale University in 2014 on the subject of Iron Age foodways in the Limpopo Valley. In 2017 she completed a two-year postdoctoral fellowship at the Department of Anthropology and Archaeology, University of South Africa. She has participated in archaeological excavations in the Bolivian Altiplano, Mongolian Gobi Desert and all over South Africa. She is one of a few archaeozoologists working on the African continent and has done research on faunal collections from Botswana, Egypt, Ghana, Madagascar, South Africa and Zambia. She is currently employed as a senior researcher at The He0ritage Foundation in Pretoria, South Africa.
