David Millar

David Millar studied archaeology and glaciology at the Universities of Bristol and Cam­bridge before working as a science journalist and editor in London. Poverty soon drove him into the oil industry however, as a result of which he lived in Dubai for over 10 years, where he bought a Jeep and developed a fascina­tion for the archaeology of the Emirates and Arabian Penin­sula. He now lives in western Canada where he writes on archaeology and past climate change, and has recently published Beyond Dubai: Seeking Lost Cities in the Emirates, a journey around the Emirates rediscovering the lost cities described in this article.
